Västerås: R&D Scientist in Switching for Electrification

We are looking for a Design Engineer (Low–Medium Complexity Projects) for a company in Västerås. Start is January 12th, 6 months limited contract to begin with.

Role Overview

For our client, we are seeking a Design Engineer to support standard design activities related to equipment, systems, and installations. The role focuses on creating and modifying standard designs and specifications, ensuring alignment with established design concepts and project requirements. The assignment includes work on low to medium complexity tasks within a structured engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and modify standard designs for equipment, systems, or installations using established design principles.
Prepare and maintain standard specifications and documentation for manufacturing, fabrication, and construction.
Produce engineering deliverables such as drawings, models, and calculations based on technical specifications.
Participate in design reviews and verification processes.
Update and refine designs as needed based on review outcomes or changing project requirements.


Required Competence

Relevant experience in engineering design within mechanical, electrical, industrial, or similar technical disciplines.
Ability to apply standard design methods to assignments of low to medium complexity.
Proficiency in preparing technical drawings, calculations, and related documentation.
Strong attention to detail and adherence to established engineering standards.
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.


This role requires fluency in both Swedish and English.

Här utvecklar vi teknik med produktionstänk i varje steg – från första idé till färdig produkt. Våra projekt spänner från kraft- och RF-design, batterisystem och styrsystem för t ex HVAC-applikationer till smarta, uppkopplade produkter. Du blir en del av ett tvärfunktionellt utvecklingsteam där elektronik, mjukvara och mekanik samverkar för att skapa lösningar som håller – från prototyp till serieproduktion.
Om rollenSom elektronikingenjör i vårt inhouse-team arbetar du nära kollegor inom hårdvara, mjukvara, test och till viss del mekanik. Du deltar i hela utvecklingsprocessen – från koncept och arkitektur till prototyp, verifiering och industrialisering. Arbetet sker på vårt kontor i centrala Västerås.

Vi tror att du har
2–4 års erfarenhet av elektronikutveckling


Erfarenhet av schemaritning och PCB-design (Altium, Cadence, KiCad eller motsvarande)


God förståelse för analog/digital elektronik och inbyggda system


Praktisk erfarenhet av test, mätning och felsökning


Förmåga att arbeta självständigt och bidra till helheten i ett utvecklingsteam

Meriterande
Erfarenhet av elektronikproduktion och relevanta tillverkningsprocesser


Erfarenhet av utveckling av testutrustning


Kunskap inom programmering (C/C++, Python)


Intresse för kraft- eller RF-design


Erfarenhet av eller intresse för Functional Safety (ISO 26262, IEC 61508 eller liknande standarder)

As Engineering Manager Electrification and Automation, you will lead the Mining and Materials operations team in Sweden. You will manage and develop a team of engineers, oversee delivery of mine hoist projects, and set strategic directions for automation and electrification. You will set the strategic direction and oversee the development and execution of engineering operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Qualifications for the Role

Minimum 5 years of experience in managing engineering teams within industrial or mining environments.
Proven track record of leading complex, project-driven organizations and delivering results through others.
Solid knowledge of safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards, with the ability to embed them into team practices.
Demonstrated success in managing budgets, optimizing resources, and achieving performance targets.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience in customer and partner engagement.
Familiarity with agile methodologies and continuous improvement frameworks, applied at organizational level.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams, foster collaboration, and build a culture of innovation and accountability.
Fluency in English and Swedish, both written and spoken, with strong interpersonal and leadership presence.
