Your future role
Get onboard and apply your Planning expertise within Project & Engineering Planning team, and strengthen Alstom Product Development!
We’ll look to you to:


Work with Engineering team to schedule their tasks in a new scheduling tool
Ensure coherence between Engineering schedules and project schedules throughout interfaces milestones
Create, update and maintain schedules and baseline
Collect time related progress information from stakeholders
Monitor progress and report status and potential delay to the core project team, and support dialogue on mitigation actions
Lead/support root cause analysis for delays
Lead/participate in periodic project schedule review sessions
Prepare standard schedule and progress reports
Update progress reports and standard KPIs in a timely manner
Be part of the project core team
Support implementation of a new scheduling tool
Contribute to continuous improvement within Planning community

At HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) you will create a sustainable future. In this exciting role as Project Controls Manager, you will be part of Hitachi Energy HVDC business and based in Västerås or Ludvika, Sweden. You will be acting as a key resource for planning, scheduling, controlling and monitoring of customer specific large-scale projects and delivering accurate and thorough information about the project status, including the schedule, progress, planned, actual, forecast, resources and productivity trends, and risks, to the project manager and line managers in a timely manner.
How you’ll make an impact
Leading the Project Planning and Controlling team for one or more HVDC project(s) in the region.
Contributing to the on-time delivery of the project. Driving collaboration between the partners, stakeholders and customers.
Ensuring close cooperation and coordination with internal and external stakeholders in your role as a central contact person.
Actively monitoring and controlling the project progress using Hitachi Energy policies and best practices to ensure that customer requirements are completed on time and in accordance with the contract.

Your background
Leading the Project Planning and Controlling team for one or more HVDC project(s) in the region.

Strong communication skills and pronounced customer orientation as well as structured working methods and ability to work in a team.
Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required; knowledge of Swedish is advantageous

Your future role
The transformation towards sustainable mobility drives demand for railway capacity, and we have been the forefront of this journey for decades. To stay in this position, we need to recruit a Traction Module Engineer to our power module team.
The Gate drive unit (GDU) is at the heart of the electrical traction system and controls output voltage to the motors by the use of insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT). The GDU is vital for energy efficient and reliable transportation. The build-up of the GDU consists of dedicated hardware/electronics and FPGA firmware (VHDL). The implemented firmware constitutes of essential and core features concerning the control, supervision of the IGBT’s and communication to other embedded systems.
The Traction Module Engineer is engaged in all phases related to both the GDU and IGBT’s when it comes to; qualifications of the GDU logic (VHDL Firmware) in combination of IGBT’s, investigations as coming from R&D and delivery projects, executing dedicated tests in our IGBT lab as part of mandatory investigating and verifying key functionalities. The role includes also the ability to draw analytical and theoretical conclusions and actively contribute in the collaboration with other key roles as product owners, VHDL developers and architects.
Key aspect to role is also to be able to understand and master the GDU IGBT driving logic and potential adaptations needed with respect to the different properties of different IGBT’s.
The role will also give the possibilities to collaborate with other colleagues within the same technical domain on other sites within Alstom.

Experience and knowledge to work in a HV (power)lab; test environment development; measuring devices, equipment, LabView, master relevant instruments(oscilloscopes, probes, sensors etc..) as used in the IGBT lab.
Extensive experience and knowledge of electronic device testing including the knowledge of analogue and digital design solutions
Good documentation and presentation skills.
Experience from similar designs, combination of GDU – IGBT control solutions, is considered an advantage.
Experience and knowledge of insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT’s) and the logic to controlling and driving them.
Knowledge and experience of railway and safety standards, e.g. EN50155, EN50121-3-2 and 50657/50129 is beneficial
Swedish & English at a fluent level is mandatory for this role

Could you be the full-time Brake System Engineer in Västerås we’re looking for?


Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your system engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside passionate, motivated, and dedicated teammates.
You'll play a key role in ensuring the success of our projects by developing and managing brake system solutions. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (project management, purchasing, cross-functional engineering teams), act as the technical interface for stakeholders, and contribute to critical engineering calculations, and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of defining project-specific brake system architecture and leading engineering teams across various domains, but also support installation, testing, and troubleshooting activities at test tracks or customer sites.

We’ll look to you to:
Analyze external requirements (customer specifications, standards, norms, and regulations) and internal rolling stock requirements to define the project-specific brake system architecture.
Take full engineering ownership of the brake system, acting as the technical interface for project management, purchasing, customers, and cross-functional engineering teams, and functionally lead the engineering team responsible for system definition and component design across mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and software domains.
Perform engineering calculations, including pneumatic system and component sizing, with knowledge of train brake performance and air consumption calculations.
Prepare engineering non-recurring cost (NRC) estimates and contribute to technical risk assessment for projects.
Define the test and validation strategy, prepare test specifications, evaluate test results, and produce approval and certification documentation in coordination with the validation and RAMS teams.
Support installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and brake performance validation on test tracks or customer sites, including travel as required.

Engineering degree in automatics, electronics, electricity, or mechanics
Solid knowledge in brakes
Strong experience in the railway industry
Knowledge of validation processes and tools
Familiarity with measuring equipment and test benches
A strong commitment to rigor and autonomy
Teamworking skills to collaborate effectively in a multicultural environment
Fluency in English; Swedish is an advantage but not a requirement
