Could you be the full-time Traction System Engineer in Västerås, Sweden we’re looking for?
Your future role
You will define the architecture, the functionalities of the traction drives or auxiliary converter systems. You will also technically lead the engineering studies in order to reach performances in compliance with the technical requirements.
We’ll look to you for
Collects external (customer, standards) and internal (rolling stock) requirements, allocates them to the technical teams.
Defines the architecture and functionalities of the traction drive or auxiliary converter system, taking as input the external requirements as well as internal ones
Ensures consistency and compatibility between all traction or auxiliary functions specifications by verifying every functional requirement specification and every component specification and by participating to all design reviews
Defines together with the validation team the traction or auxiliary validation strategy
Defines and participates in combined system type test and the commissioning of the train.
Participates in technical meetings with customer in order to provide support to the Sub-System Manager and / or Project Engineering Managers
Analyses technical issues and proposes solutions during the commissioning and the reliability growth phase
Provides Return of Experience to be implemented in Reference Solutions.
Contributes to the RoE committee and documentation updates.

All about you
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent, providing a robust academic foundation for advanced engineering responsibilities.
Analytical, structured, and methodical approach, with the ability to assess complex systems at both architectural and detailed technical levels.
Strong experience in the electrical dimensioning of power electronic systems, ideally gained in roles requiring technical leadership, expert judgment, and adherence to industry standards.
Strong collaboration skills and high standard of professional communication, enabling effective interaction with cross?functional stakeholders.
You are fluent in English, and proficiency in Swedish is considered an advantage

Your future role
Get on-board and apply your expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to the Specialist Team Manager, and work alongside collaborative and driven teammates. As a Traction Ecodesign Engineer, you will drive and support technical investigations and collaborate with many different functions within engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to deliver smart, innovative propulsion products to customers all over the world. In this role you will be responsible for the Ecodesign activities and creation of relevant documentation for delivery projects and products. Furthermore, you will analyze costumer requirements and plan, coordinate the work related to this area. Deploy and apply Ecodesign referential in T&P, R&D, Expertise activities
Ensure Ecodesign expertise for local platform, subsystems, tenders and projects.
Perform Ecodesign activities/analysis on tenders (contractual and legal requirements analysis and positioning)
Prepare Ecodesign management plan and specifications (Traction level)
Participate in and plan environmental audits.
Participate to design work in order to ensure achievement of Ecodesign commitments and compliance.

Your future role

The main purpose of the role is to develop brake control software for trains. You will be part of a team developing, testing and maintaining brake control software meeting customer expectations. The work will be carried out in Västerås with access to real time simulators, lab and to trains across the world.

Design control software for brake systems in trains
Design, develop, document, test & integrate brake control software
Implementation and testing using graphical programming tools such as Simulink
Interact with neighboring disciplines within mechanical, pneumatical, electronics and systems engineering
Manage requirements with internal & external stakeholders
Participate in investigations & in the development of solutions
Provide support to system tests, train commissioning & homologation of brake systems

Registrera och dokumentera information i våra aktuella system gällande t.ex. åtgärdstext, åtgånget material etc.
Utföra felsökning och reparationer av ER1 och Regina och genomföra korrektion av elektriska samt mekaniska fel ?på fordonen.
Säkerställa efterlevnad enligt kraven i policyn för miljö, hälsa, säkerhet och kvalitet.

För att lyckas som Servicetekniker behöver du ha en stark teknisk kompetens och ett öga för detaljer.
Du behöver vara strukturerad och trivas med att arbeta efter tydliga processer, samtidigt som du arbetar mot deadlines för att säkerställa att tågen kommer ut i tid. Could you be the full-time Traction Module Engineer in Västerås we’re looking for?
Your future role
The transformation towards sustainable mobility drives demand for railway capacity, and we have been the forefront of this journey for decades. To stay in this position, we need to recruit a Traction Module Engineer to our power module team.
The Gate drive unit (GDU) is at the heart of the electrical traction system and controls output voltage to the motors by the use of insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT). The GDU is vital for energy efficient and reliable transportation. The build-up of the GDU consists of dedicated hardware/electronics and FPGA firmware (VHDL). The implemented firmware constitutes of essential and core features concerning the control, supervision of the IGBT’s and communication to other embedded systems.
The Traction Module Engineer is engaged in all phases related to both the GDU and IGBT’s when it comes to; qualifications of the GDU logic (VHDL Firmware) in combination of IGBT’s, investigations as coming from R&D and delivery projects, executing dedicated tests in our IGBT lab as part of mandatory investigating and verifying key functionalities. The role includes also the ability to draw analytical and theoretical conclusions and actively contribute in the collaboration with other key roles as product owners, VHDL developers and architects.
Key aspect to role is also to be able to understand and master the GDU IGBT driving logic and potential adaptations needed with respect to the different properties of different IGBT’s.
The role will also give the possibilities to collaborate with other colleagues within the same technical domain on other sites within Alstom.

Knowledge and experience of railway and safety standards, e.g. EN50155, EN50121-3-2 and 50657/50129 is beneficial

You'll play a key role in ensuring the success of our projects by developing and managing brake system solutions. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (project management, purchasing, cross-functional engineering teams), act as the technical interface for stakeholders, and contribute to critical engineering calculations, and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of defining project-specific brake system architecture and leading engineering teams across various domains, but also support installation, testing, and troubleshooting activities at test tracks or customer sites.

We’ll look to you to:
Analyze external requirements (customer specifications, standards, norms, and regulations) and internal rolling stock requirements to define the project-specific brake system architecture.
Take full engineering ownership of the brake system, acting as the technical interface for project management, purchasing, customers, and cross-functional engineering teams, and functionally lead the engineering team responsible for system definition and component design across mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and software domains.
Perform engineering calculations, including pneumatic system and component sizing, with knowledge of train brake performance and air consumption calculations.
Prepare engineering non-recurring cost (NRC) estimates and contribute to technical risk assessment for projects.
Define the test and validation strategy, prepare test specifications, evaluate test results, and produce approval and certification documentation in coordination with the validation and RAMS teams.
Support installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and brake performance validation on test tracks or customer sites, including travel as required.

Your future role
As a Traction Test Engineer at Powerlab in Västerås, you will work hands-on and independently with testing complete electric drive systems, primarily for trains. You will perform both validating system tests and type tests of components for both internal and external customers, as Powerlab is part of the Alstom Test and Technology Centre (ATTC) a global test centre with top-level expertise in electric traction systems.

You will report to Patrik Ericsson - Traction Validation Manager, and collaborate with both your team and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure project success.

We’ll look to you for
Carry out type-, validation-, and investigation tests on traction systems and components.
Prepare and write test procedures and test reports.
Define and implement appropriate test methodologies and select test equipment.
Review and contribute to the planning of validation activities as well as establish and maintain validation plans and progress reports.
Set up and integrate mechanical and electrical systems in preparation for testing.
Troubleshoot and solve problems during ongoing tests.

As a Traction Electrical Design Engineer, you will drive and support technical investigations and collaborate with many different functions within engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to deliver smart, innovative propulsion products to customers all over the world. In this role you will be responsible for design circuit diagrams and create Routine test documentation, define interfaces, analyze costumer requirements, support routine test activities related to this area. Plan and coordinate the work related to circuit diagram design and routine test documentation. As a converter electrical design engineer, you must have a passion for bringing both people and all the technical details together. In this role you will have the opportunity to be part of all phases in the product life cycle from design to final validation, and field support once our products are delivered to customers.

We’ll look to you to:
Design circuit diagrams and create routine test documentation for our traction products. Plan and lead the work of a small project team of engineers both onsite and offsite related to circuit design and routine test documentation.
Drive and support technical investigations and design activities related to the circuit design and routine test scope for products in development and in the field.
Define electrical interfaces.
Collaborate with and support system engineering, manufacturing engineers and test engineers.
Analyze customer requirements
